Palmetto State Armory buys up PTAC
If you’ve ever built a low end AR-15, you’ve no doubt heard of both PTAC and Palmetto State Armory. I’ve always liked the PSA stuff. It’s inexpensive and is usually of good quality. PTAC is a bit of a step down, but I’m hoping that they get even better with the help of Palmetto at the helm. The one PTAC upper I owned had some cycling issues and feed issues, but I was able to swap out the gas tube and fix the issue. Other than that, it was a tack driver.
This news should also drive AR component prices down even further and give even more selection in pre-built uppers. Now if we can just talk Palmetto into buying out New Frontier.
Here’s their official press release:
Palmetto State Armory Absorbs Practical Tactical (P-Tac)
Columbia, S.C. (September 23, 2014)-
Palmetto State Armory is very proud to announce that its partnership with Practical Tactical AR Parts has grown into an absorption of the discount firearms parts manufacturer. Over the past year PSA has developed a strong relationship with the P-Tac team and has grown to have a healthy respect of the company’s quality and price structure. The benefit of this absorption for both parties is that now P-Tac can be offered on a national stage under the Palmetto State Armory umbrella and will come with a full warranty as is offered to all customers of PSA name brand products and PSA can now offer a full line of quality parts at manufacturer pricing! CEO Jamin McCallum commented on the absorption saying “It is going to be very exciting to merge Palmetto State Armory’s creative vision with Practical Tactical’s bargain pricing on some huge projects we have coming out very soon!”
